Allyson Chan is running for the San Mateo-Foster City School District Board of Education, representing Area 1, to give back to the community that shaped her educational journey.

A proud graduate of the San Mateo-Foster City School District, Allyson experienced firsthand the impact strong schools can have on students’ lives. As a high school student, she served on the San Mateo County Board of Education, where she advocated for legislation to strengthen student voice across California.

She earned an associate’s degree in political science from Cañada College and her bachelor’s degree in political science and psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Since then, Allyson has continued serving the community as a County Legislative Aide and as a member of the Executive Board for the San Mateo Democratic Party. Nationally, as Programming Director for the National Student Board Member Association, she works with student leaders and learns from school boards across the country about best practices to support student success.

She brings a unique combination of lived experience as a former student, deep local knowledge, and a national perspective on education policy.

Allyson is ready to bring that experience to the school board, so every student in the district has the opportunity to thrive.
